Monday's U.S. airstrikes in Iraq were aimed at deterring Iran and Iranian-backed groups from conducting or supporting attacks on U.S. personnel and facilities, President Joe Biden said Wednesday. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

"These strikes were aimed at weakening and disrupting the ongoing series of attacks against the United States and our partners, and deterring Iran and Iranian-backed militia groups from conducting or supporting further attacks against United States personnel and facilities," Biden said in a letter to senior congressional leaders on Wednesday.
"The United States stands ready to take further action, as necessary and appropriate, to address further threats or attacks," the letter reads.
