Vladimir Kara-Murza, who survived two poisonings in 2015 and 2017, has been in a Russian detention center since April 2022. In 2023, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison under articles on spreading "fakes" about the Russian army, the activities of an "undesirable" organization and "high treason".

Kara-Murza called Russia an aggressor country and spoke about war crimes, publicly claimed election fraud and human rights violations in Russia.
