In October, 183 civilians died and 903 were injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian shelling. 80% of the casualties were recorded near the frontline, with Kherson, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions suffering the most.

Last month, at least 183 civilians were killed and 903 others injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian shelling. The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that Russia once again demonstrates its attitude to all laws, norms and rules of warfare, emphasizing that the terrorist country understands only force. This was reported by UNN with reference to the UN report.

"At least 183 civilians were killed and 903 injured in Ukraine in October. 45% of the victims were over 60 years old. Among the victims, 9 children were killed and 49 were injured," the report says.

The UN emphasized that Russia has intensified attacks using long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, which have carried out 1,900 strikes in Ukraine.

"In addition to human casualties and injuries, the almost daily frequency of these attacks, coupled with the constant sound of air raid sirens, has caused a significant deterioration in the living conditions of the civilian population. In October, 80% of civilian casualties (deaths and injuries) were recorded near the frontline, in particular as a result of aerial bombardment, artillery shelling, attacks from multiple launch rocket systems and short-range unmanned aerial vehicles. The largest number of victims was in Kherson, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions," the UN added.

There were also at least six attacks on ships and seaport infrastructure. One attack was on a port in the territory occupied by Russia in Zaporizhzhia region.

Overall, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 12162 civilians have been killed and 26919 injured.

Ombudsman Lubinets statedthat "behind each of these figures is someone's property, life and future, but Russia once again demonstrates its attitude to all laws, norms and rules of warfare, it violates all the treaties and documents to which it previously signed. It understands only the language of force, which all democratic countries must show.
