ARMA hands over almost a million dollars found on former head of Chernihiv region's HQC

The National Agency for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes receives almost USD 1 million of seized funds of the former head of the High Commission in Chernihiv region

The Special Prosecutor's Office has handed over almost USD 1 million of the seized funds of the former head of the Chernihiv Oblast Higher Local Electoral Commission to the National Agency for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA). This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office.  

At the request of prosecutors from the Chernihiv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region, the court seized and transferred to ARMA's management funds in the amount of USD 963.6 thousand and EUR 22.5 thousand seized during searches of the former head of the Military Commission at the Chernihiv Regional TCC and the joint venture

As previously reported, the official received an illegal benefit from persons liable for military service for declaring them unfit for military service during mobilization. In this way, he assisted residents of Chernihiv in evading conscription.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the procedural actions were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings on the facts of obtaining illegal benefits, obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, as well as illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 368, Part 1 of Article 114-1, Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspect is currently in custody.

In February, the SBU detained the former head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Commissariat, who helped people liable for military service to be deregistered, and seized almost $1 million from him.
