According to Baza, the explosion occurred on the night of November 3 on the stretch between Dema and Chernykivka stations. As a result, 22 railroad cars derailed. Most of them overturned. Contact poles, the contact network and the railroad track were also damaged.

The explosive device was preliminarily placed on a crossbeam under the hatch of one of the cars. The examination showed that a high explosive was used for the detonation.
