An electronic register of the Museum Fund of Ukraine was presented in Kyiv, which has already been joined by more than 300 museums.

The register of the Museum Fund of Ukraine was presented in Kyiv. It happened during a conference, UNN reports, citing a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

The global goal of creating a register of the Museum Fund of Ukraine is to collect data on the museum fund of Ukraine in a single place and make it accessible to the public and professionals. As of today, more than 300 museums out of 652 have already joined the electronic register.

The conference in the capital was the final event of the project "Implementation of the Electronic Accounting System of the Museum Fund of Ukraine", which is being implemented in accordance with a memorandum between the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Center for Cultural Research, and the International Solidarity Fund, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Poland.

Anastasia Bondar, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization . She noted that at a time when Ukraine is confronting not only physical aggression but also attempts to destroy Ukrainian identity, culture is also a battlefield.

"Russia is not just destroying our monuments - it is using culture as a weapon. The theft of artifacts, their inclusion in Russian registers, propaganda of a "common history," changing and distorting historical facts are signs of cultural genocide, an attempt to erase Ukrainian identity. The electronic accounting system of the Museum Fund, which we are presenting today, is our contribution to preservation and restoration. Already today, this system allows us to record and document in detail, and in the future to return what was stolen," said the Deputy Minister.

The digital transformation aims to make Ukraine the most convenient country in the world - both for citizens and the cultural community, the ministry emphasizes.

"We are building a system that is accessible, understandable and modern. At the same time, we are implementing it not only for ourselves, but also as part of a global initiative to protect cultural property," added Anastasia Bondar.
