A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the southern Spanish city of Granada early Saturday morning. The regional government reported damage to buildings and cars, but no injuries were reported, UNN writes, citing Reuters.

The earthquake occurred in the Alhendín area of the Granada metropolitan area shortly after 1 a.m. local time.
Spanish broadcaster TVE showed debris scattered across the streets and some damage to cars in the popular tourist city. Andalusian emergency services rescued several people from damaged buildings.
Antonio Sanz Cabello, vice president of the regional government of Andalusia, said in a post on X on Saturday that the authorities had declared an emergency.
"If you are in Granada, felt the earthquake, are safe, and your home has not been damaged, remain calm and avoid entering or leaving buildings unnecessarily," he said.
"When outside, keep away from facades, cornices, balconies, walls, and other elements that could fall," he added.
