Almost all Ukrenergo substations have protection against "shahed" - Kubrakov
Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine has built a second level of protection against the Shahed at almost all 22 Ukrenergo substations, but a third level of complete shelter is still needed to fully protect against missiles and other powerful weapons.
The second level of protection, which is designed to protect against "shahed", has been built at almost all 22 Ukrenergo substations. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration - Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov during a telethon, UNN reports.
"There are several levels of protection, and I can say that the second level of protection, which is designed to protect against the Shahed, has been built at almost all of these 22 substations. In many regions, they have already saved the autotransformers that protect these substations. At the moment, there are several regions that are now fully consuming electricity through these second-level protected autotransformers," Kubrakov said.

He noted that the second level does not protect against missiles or other more powerful weapons.
"Only the third level of protection can protect. This is a complete cover of all substations, such facilities are not yet fully built, they are in varying degrees of readiness. They need much more time because it is essentially the construction of a new substation with a large, powerful protection. This requires funding," Shmyhal said.
He expressed hope that the Cabinet of Ministers and international partners would support this and that Ukraine would be able to complete the third level of protection, which would fully guarantee protection against all types of damage.
