The police exposed two local residents involved in drug trafficking in the Poltava district. During searches, about 17 kg of drugs and over half a million hryvnias were seized.

Police exposed two local residents involved in the illegal drug trade in the Poltava district. During searches, law enforcement officers seized about 17 kilograms of narcotic substances, drug-containing plants, packaging equipment, as well as over 400,000 hryvnias and about 5,000 dollars. The accomplices were served suspicion notices and are in custody. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, writes UNN.
According to the head of police department No. 2 of the Poltava District Police Department, Mykhailo Ilnytskyi, local residents born in 1976 and 1979 are involved in the illegal activity. Investigators and operatives documented the facts of acquisition, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs in the Poltava district
During an authorized search at the residence of one of the suspects, police discovered and seized about 17 kilograms of narcotic substances of plant origin, as well as drug-containing plants. In addition, during the investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized significant amounts of funds in national and foreign currency that may be related to the illegal activity.
The seized physical evidence has been sent for forensic examinations.
The men have already been notified of suspicion and a preventive measure has been chosen – custody
Under the procedural guidance of the Poltava District Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings have been initiated under parts 2 and 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, or shipment for the purpose of sale, as well as illegal sale of narcotic drugs, committed repeatedly or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, if the subject of such actions were narcotic drugs in particularly large quantities.
If found guilty, the suspects face from nine to twelve years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
