A reminder of missing children in Ukraine: a skyscraper in New York will be illuminated in blue and yellow
Kyiv • UNN
The Empire State Building will be illuminated in blue and yellow to draw attention to the fate of missing children in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion, an initiative organized by actor Liev Schreiber.
Today, on December 19, at 23:30 Kyiv time, the Empire State Building will be illuminated with blue and yellow lights to remind the world of the thousands of children who have disappeared in Ukraine. This was reported by the former Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Mykola Kuleba, UNN reports.
Details
Kuleba said that the action was organized by actor Lev Schreiber, who wants to emphasize how the Russian invasion of Ukraine is destroying the childhood and future of Ukrainian children.
"Thousands of killed and wounded, millions of internally displaced persons and refugees, and almost 20,000 children who were forcibly taken to the territory of Russia. Thousands more children still remain under occupation under the influence of Russian propaganda," Kuleba wrote.
Kuleba added that the actor urges us to remember these forcibly abducted children and their families in this difficult time and to continue working, as our Save Ukraine team does, which has already rescued 223 children, until every child returns home.
Recall
In November, New York City honored the memory of the victims and unfurled a 30-meter yellow and blue flag to mark the 90th anniversary of the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
