A medic of a Russian colony and his accomplice have been notified of suspicion of abuse of Ukrainian prisoners, UNN reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

Details

As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, the prison guards turned every day of Russian captivity for Ukrainian military personnel and civilians into hell. Two Russian torturers have been identified, for whom beatings, sexualized violence, psychological torture, and medical sadism were a daily routine.

These are not isolated cases of cruelty, but a system in correctional colony No. 7 in the village of Pakino, Vladimir region of the Russian Federation. Suspicion has been notified to its two main perpetrators – the colony's medical unit employee Vyacheslav Cherdantsev, known among prisoners as "Konoval", and a prisoner of the same colony, Yaroslav Kirilov, nicknamed "Yarik"

- the statement reads.

According to prosecutors, the medic used his position to break people, humiliate their dignity, force them to obtain Russian citizenship or give false testimony. The prisoner, who was recruited by the colony administration, tortured fellow prisoners like himself for status within this system.

People were systematically beaten, humiliated, and intimidated, subjected to physical violence of a sexual nature.

The sick were not provided with medicine or assistance; on the contrary, conditions were created to exacerbate their illnesses. They were stripped, kept in the cold, and placed together with healthy people to facilitate the spread of disease.

The abuse was not hidden; it took place both in the medical unit and in the cells, in full view of others. Requests for help were punished with new humiliation. Refusal to obey was met with new violence.

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor General's Office notified both Russians of suspicion of committing cruel treatment of prisoners of war and civilians, as well as other violations of the laws and customs of war, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

For the Russian Federation, violence is a component of state policy aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity. "Konoval" and "Yarik" are its executors, each at their own level, each within the limits set by the leadership.

The aggressor country not only violates international humanitarian law but demonstratively disregards it, turning torture into a tool for managing people. These facts are documented. They will not disappear with time or dissolve in Russia's denials

- summarized in the Prosecutor General's Office.
