Brovary resident failed to call an ambulance for her son, and after the child's death, hid the body in a box in a closet

In Brovary, a 38-year-old woman failed to call medical professionals when her young son fell ill, and when the child died without receiving medical assistance, she hid the body in a box. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Details

According to the investigation, the woman lived in Brovary with her two sons, aged 11 and 2. The children's father is serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The woman was not officially employed and was not registered with a narcologist or psychiatrist, but she periodically abused alcohol.

How it all started

On the evening of April 23, the younger son fell ill. Despite the fact that the child required emergency medical care, the woman did not call an ambulance. After some time, the boy died.

After her son's death, the woman placed his body in a box and hid it in a wardrobe in her own bedroom. For several days, she told relatives that the boy had food poisoning and had been taken to the hospital.

The grandmother raised the alarm and began searching for her grandson in the city's hospitals. When she was unsuccessful, the woman turned to the police for help.

What awaits the suspect

The woman has already been detained. She has been notified of suspicion regarding the malicious failure to fulfill parental duties and leaving a child in danger, which resulted in death. These crimes are provided for under Part 3 of Art. 135 and Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: the sanction provides for imprisonment from three to eight years or more.

The court has ordered a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention.

The causes of death of the child, who would have turned three in July, are being established.

The fate of the suspect's eldest son

The woman's eldest son is currently under the care of relatives.

The Prosecutor's Office has also initiated an audit of the actions of social service officials regarding the timeliness of their response to potential risks for children in this family. If facts of official negligence are established, the issue of holding the perpetrators accountable will be decided.

When the state sees signals of danger for a child, the reaction must be immediate. If this did not happen, everyone whose inaction allowed the tragedy to occur must be held responsible
