The interim head of the Kursk region reported on the mass departure of residents due to the fighting.
133 thousand residents have left the Kursk region of Russia. This was announced by the interim head of the Kursk region Alexei Smirnov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ross media reported, UNN reported.

According to Smirnov, about 20,000 people remain in the region.
On August 6, Ukrainian troops entered the territory of the Kursk region. Fighting has been going on there for more than two weeks.
On August 20 , the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, announced the advance of Ukrainian troops by 28-35 km deep into the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. 1263 square kilometers of territory and 93 settlements were liberated.
On August 22 , President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that one more settlementwas under Ukrainian control in certain areas of the Kursk region.
