A 12-year-old Ukrainian boy returned home after 18 months in the occupied territory and four months in Russia. His mother serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The return was facilitated by the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.

Another child was returned home - a 12-year-old boy who spent 18 months in the temporarily occupied territory and another four months in Russia. This was announced on Friday by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, UNN reports.

A 12-year-old boy has been returned home! From the first days of the full-scale war, the child was in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, and later in Russia. On the eve of the Russian invasion, the boy came to his father's house in Luhansk region for three days, but because of the Russian invasion, he was under occupation for about 18 months! And for another four months - on the territory of Russia! There, the child even had to study in a Russian school

- Lubinets said on Telegram.

According to the Ombudsman, the child's mother could not take the 12-year-old Ukrainian on her own because she is a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "That's why the woman asked us to help her return her son," he said.

"The Ombudsman's Office worked out a way to return him, taking care of logistics, security and other issues. It wasn't easy, but the result was worth it: the boy is home!" summarized Lubinets.
