Zelensky: US elections are a challenge for Ukraine
Kyiv • UNN
The President of Ukraine called the upcoming US elections a challenge for Kyiv. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of dialogue with the candidates' teams and discussing possible future cooperation.
The upcoming presidential election in the United States is a "challenge" for Kyiv. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with French media, in particular AFP, UNN reports.
As a vital ally, the United States has provided Kyiv with tens of billions of dollars in military aid since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump, who claims to be able to force the parties to reach a negotiated settlement, will call into question Washington's continued support.

"We cannot influence any election. Of course, the United States is a challenge today. And there are risks that probably none of us can foresee," he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, the likely Democratic candidate for the White House, echoed President Joe Biden's pro-Ukrainian position.
Zelenskiy said his team was in touch with both Harris's aides and the Trump campaign.

"I, as the President of Ukraine, must, of course, have a dialog between my team and the teams of Biden, Trump, and today Harris," Zelensky said.
"We need to have all these contacts and talk about what our future might look like if one side or the other wins the election," he said.
