Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Meloni coordinated their positions on the eve of an important European Council meeting to discuss steps toward Ukraine's accession to the EU. They also discussed the Formula for Peace and preparations for the Global Peace Summit.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. According to the Presidential Administration, the parties coordinated their positions on the eve of an important meeting of the European Council on December 14-15, UNN reports.

According to the Presidential Administration, on the eve of an important meeting of the European Council on December 14-15 in Brussels, the parties coordinated their positions and discussed Ukraine's progress in implementing the recommendations of the European Commission, which are necessary to start negotiations on our country's accession to the EU.

Zelenskyy expressed hope that Ukraine's efforts to launch negotiations would be fairly assessed and that EU leaders would make a historic decision.

"Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the obligations. We have once again proved that we are able to achieve impressive results on our way to the EU despite unprecedented challenges. I believe that unity will prevail at tomorrow's meeting of the European Council and the European Union will once again confirm its strength and leadership," the Head of State said.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of the points of the Peace Formula, as well as on the preparation of the Global Peace Summit.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reportedthat the EU summit will be very difficult, as a lot of discussions are expected, and not only on the Ukrainian issue. There will be five important issues concerning Ukraine at the summit, including the opening of EU membership negotiations and the launch of a financial support fund.
