What made the Russian Arctic so tempting for Trump: WP journalists found out the details
Kyiv • UNN
Putin is offering Trump a stake in Arctic minerals, including gas and rare earths. For Russia, this is a chance to get technology and circumvent sanctions.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin proposes to transfer to the United States a share in minerals, rare earth metals, and vast natural gas deposits in the Kremlin-controlled part of the Arctic. This is reported by UNN with reference to The Washington Post.
Details
Commenting on Donald Trump's recent statements about his desire to annex Greenland, Putin said that he sees no problem with this. According to him, Trump's plans "cannot be called some absurd talks."
At the same time, according to the publication, for Trump, the transfer of a share in the Arctic could be a way to resell cheap energy resources or purchase minerals and rare earth metals from Russia. For the Russians themselves, this opens up the opportunity to gain access to liquefied natural gas technologies, which it lacks, and to restore some of the key sources of income that have been complicated by sanctions after the invasion of Ukraine.
In addition to gas, the Russian part of the Arctic is rich in rare earth metals, in which the Trump administration has publicly expressed interest. These metals are lithium, nickel, and aluminum - they are key resources for high technology, renewable energy, and defense.
When it comes to the Arctic, Russia has a lot to offer
Recall
