Urban fighting in Toretsk: enemy tries to break through Shcherbynivka

Intense urban fighting continues in Toretsk and Chasovyi Yar. The enemy is trying to break through Shcherbynivka and seize the refractory plant, but Ukrainian forces are successfully holding back the attacks.
City battles are taking place in Toretsk, Donetsk region, and Russians are trying to break through Shcherbynivka. This was reported by the spokesman for the Khortytsia military unit Viktor Tregubov during a telethon, UNN reports.
"There are urban battles in Chasovyi Yar and Toretsk. Urban fighting is a kind of battle with a very high intensity. In Toretsk, there are both urban battles and an attempt to break through Shcherbynivka. Recently, the 3rd assault brigade repelled an enemy attack in Leonidivka and destroyed 9 enemy infantry fighting vehicles," Tregubov said.
According to him, there is also constant urban fighting in Chasovyi Yar.
"The Russians are constantly trying to either break through and penetrate the Ukrainian positions behind the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal or to break through to the architectural dominant of the city, which is a refractory plant, but they have never been successful in the latter case because it is physically difficult," Tregubov said.

On December 24, Anastasia Bobovnikova , a spokeswoman for the Luhansk regional military unit, reportedthat Russians had started using equipment in all three directions: Toretsk, Kramatorsk, and Siversk, and intensified their assaults.
