Ukrzaliznytsia can sell property again: they expect 1.8 billion from scrap metal

The joint-stock company "Ukrzaliznytsia" has again received the opportunity to manage property after a pause that lasted almost 1.5 years.

This refers to the sale of scrap metal and other products through Prozorro.Sales auctions.

Now the joint-stock company can make decisions regarding the sale of products worth over 500 million hryvnias. The corresponding resolution was approved during a recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Thanks to this decision, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to obtain much-needed resources, including from the sale of accumulated scrap metal and crushed stone products, which it extracts from its own quarries

The Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Oleksandr Pertsovsky noted that the company has accumulated significant amounts of scrap metal in recent years - about 230,000 tons. From its sale, "Ukrzaliznytsia" can receive about 1.8 billion hryvnias.

At the same time, almost 7.5 million tons of crushed stone products with a potential value of up to 800 million hryvnias have already been produced but remain unsold, says Pertsovsky. He added that the sales processes stopped back in 2023, when the regulatory field changed - in 2024, the management team of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" was updated.

The sale of scrap metal is not only about additional revenue, but also about improving the technological process and efficiency
