U.S. President-elect Donald Trump plans to fire the entire team that worked with special prosecutor Jack Smith on two federal cases against the former president, including legal professionals normally shielded from political prosecution, and use the Justice Department to investigate regarding the 2020 election, according to two individuals close to Trump's transition team, The Washington Post reported, writes UNN.

Trump, among other things, “plans to assemble investigative teams at the Justice Department to look for evidence in contested states that fraud tainted the 2020 election,” one of the people said.
The proposals offer new evidence that Trump's intention to dramatically change the status quo in Washington is likely to focus heavily on the Justice Department, the nation's top law enforcement agency, and that at least part of his agenda is fueled not by ideology or political goals but by personal grievances, the publication notes.
By becoming president again, Trump “wants to purge the ‘bad guys, the people who have been harassing me,’” said one person familiar with the plans.
This person noted that the idea of creating investigative teams of federal agents and prosecutors in contested states is less well articulated and “not front and center” - unlike the president-elect's oft-stated desire to clean up the Justice Department. Trump reiterated that goal Thursday after his first choice for attorney general, former Congressman Matt Gaetz, withdrew from consideration.
When asked about Trump's plans to fire prosecutors from Smith's team and pursue investigations regarding the 2020 election, Trump's spokeswoman echoed the president-elect's frequent claim that the Justice Department's cases against him were politically motivated.
“President Trump campaigned on firing rogue bureaucrats who were busy illegally weaponizing our American justice system, and the American people can expect him to deliver on that promise,” spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said in a statement. - “One of the many reasons President Trump won a convincing election victory is that Americans are tired of seeing their tax dollars spent prosecuting political enemies of the Biden-Harris administration rather than going after the real violent criminals on our streets.
