Donald Trump is considering right-wing radio host and former agent Dan Bongino for the post of director of the US Secret Service. Experts believe that the agency needs to be revamped, although some doubt the candidate's administrative experience.

Donald Trump is considering right-wing radio host Dan Bongino as a candidate to lead the Secret Service as the intelligence agency tries to restore trust after multiple attempts on Trump's life during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Political podcast host Dan Bongino used to work as a Secret Service agent and was a regular commentator and host on Fox News.

Members of Congress, as well as an independent expert commission set up by the Department of Homeland Security, have said that the Secret Service needs a complete overhaul and that it would benefit from an outsider coming in and refocusing the agency on its core mission of protection.
