The US can exert pressure on the RF through additional sanctions, but currently they are lifting them, which Ukraine is feeling — Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the US could exert more pressure on Russia, particularly through sanctions; however, America is currently partially lifting them, which is being felt in Ukraine. Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Newsmax, UNN reports.

Details

Zelenskyy stated that US military support for Ukraine continues, even despite a decrease in diplomatic pressure.

"I am not talking about their weapons packages. That is still ongoing, and we are grateful for that, that we can use European funds and buy some anti-missile systems,"

- Zelenskyy said.

According to him, Ukraine maintains close daily contact with American officials, but weapons alone are not enough without constant economic and political pressure.

"The United States can exert pressure through additional sanctions, but now they are lifting them, yes, because of the Middle East, and we feel it. And I, of course, am afraid, because Russia does not feel the pressure, and for them, it is normal to continue this way of war,"

– he said.

The President emphasized that the easing of sanctions on Russian oil amid tensions in the Middle East has allowed the Kremlin to continue financing its war efforts.

"I hope that America will return all the sanctions. I heard this in the media. I think maybe I am wrong. Bessent said that it is not for the entire period. I hope that they will reintroduce them,"

- the head of state noted.
