The strike on the "Engels-2" airbase became Ukraine's most successful attack since the beginning of the year - British intelligence
Kyiv • UNN
British intelligence called the Armed Forces of Ukraine's attack on the "Engels-2" airbase the most successful strike on the Russian Federation in 2025. The strike caused significant damage to ammunition supplies, which will affect offensive operations.

The attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the ammunition depot at the strategic air base of the Russian Federation "Engels-2" demonstrates the regularity and effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on military infrastructure in the deep rear of Russia. This is stated in the report of the British Ministry of Defense intelligence on March 25, writes UNN.

In particular, as reported, on the night of March 19-20, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on an ammunition depot located at the Russian strategic aviation air base "Engels-2", which is widely used for strike operations approximately 600 km from the border with Ukraine.
At the time of the attack, the warehouse probably contained air ammunition used against Ukrainian troops. According to intelligence, the strike caused significant damage to Russian ammunition stocks, which is likely to affect Russia's ability to conduct offensive operations from this base in the short term.
Russian aircraft were also likely moved to adjacent airfields, as has become standard practice in response to Ukrainian deep strike operations.
This strike is the most successful Ukrainian strike on a Russian ammunition depot in 2025 to date and continues regular Ukrainian UAV strikes deep into Russian territory. It also underscores the ongoing struggle faced by the stretched Russian air defenses to protect their strategic military assets
