In particular, as reported, on the night of March 19-20, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on an ammunition depot located at the Russian strategic aviation air base "Engels-2", which is widely used for strike operations approximately 600 km from the border with Ukraine.
At the time of the attack, the warehouse probably contained air ammunition used against Ukrainian troops. According to intelligence, the strike caused significant damage to Russian ammunition stocks, which is likely to affect Russia's ability to conduct offensive operations from this base in the short term.
Russian aircraft were also likely moved to adjacent airfields, as has become standard practice in response to Ukrainian deep strike operations.
This strike is the most successful Ukrainian strike on a Russian ammunition depot in 2025 to date and continues regular Ukrainian UAV strikes deep into Russian territory. It also underscores the ongoing struggle faced by the stretched Russian air defenses to protect their strategic military assets
