According to the military, the target of the strike was a Hezbollah commander who carried out a deadly rocket attack on Majdal Shams and other deadly attacks on Israel.

Context
On July 27, Israeli authorities reported that the Lebanese group Hezbollah launched a rocket attack on the Golan Heights, which is controlled by Israel. The attack hit a soccer field in the village of Majdal Shams. Twelve people, including children and teenagers, were killed. This attack was the largest attack on Israel and its controlled areas since the Hamas terrorist attack on the country on October 7, 2023.
