The government has appointed Ruslan Kravchenko as the Head of the State Tax Service

The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed the former head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, as the head of the State Tax Service. This was reported by the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, in Telegram, reports UNN.

On December 30, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed a decree dismissing Ruslan Kravchenko from the position of head of the Kyiv RMA.

On December 28, the Government agreed to dismiss the head of the Kyiv RMA, Ruslan Kravchenko, and the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filipp Pronin.

The media reported that Ruslan Kravchenko would be the new Prosecutor General instead of the dismissed Andriy Kostin.

"He is a compromise figure who can be pushed through parliament," a Radio NV source said.

Another source reported that Kravchenko's candidacy had long been considered in the OP, as the candidacy of the current head of the Odesa RSA, "Oleh Kiper, will not gather votes in parliament". At the same time, the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU), Pavlo Kyrylienko, who, according to the source, was previously planned for this position in the OP, is now accused of illegal enrichment.

The candidacy of the next head of the Office of the Prosecutor General still has to be considered by the relevant law enforcement committee of the parliament.

Earlier, the media had already named Ruslan Kravchenko as the main contender for this position.

People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that Kravchenko is planned to be appointed as the acting head of the State Tax Service, and Pronin as the head of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine.

Background

Ruslan Kravchenko began his career in 2012 as an investigator in the Sevastopol Prosecutor's Office. In 2014-2015, he directly participated in the anti-terrorist operation while performing his official duties as a prosecutor of the 33rd Military Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region of Ukraine (Debaltseve, Artemivsk).

From 2015 to 2019, he worked in the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

From 2019 to 2020, he was the deputy military prosecutor of the Central Region of Ukraine.

From 2020 to 2021, he worked as the head of the Department of Procedural Guidance in Criminal Proceedings on Crimes in the Defense-Industrial Complex of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

In 2021, he headed the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv region. He held this position until 2023.

During his service in various positions, Ruslan Kravchenko led the work of a team of prosecutors who participated in high-profile criminal investigations. In particular, as the senior of the group of prosecutors, he provided procedural guidance and supported the prosecution in the criminal proceedings against the former President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, for committing state treason and aiding in the waging of an aggressive war. He secured Yanukovych's conviction and sentencing to 13 years in prison. The verdict was upheld in the appellate and cassation instances.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian tax service was last headed by Oleksiy Liubchenko in a non-acting capacity. In April 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Liubchenko as the head of the State Tax Service. In May 2021, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksiy Liubchenko as the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy.

In December 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers temporarily entrusted the duties of the head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine to the deputy, Tetiana Kiriienko.
