China and the European Union discussed strengthening economic cooperation in response to US tariffs. The discussion concerned the resumption of negotiations on trade preferences and prices for electric vehicles.

China and the European Union exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of economics and trade in response to tariffs from the United States of America. This was reported by Reuters, UNN reports.

Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao discussed the issue with European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič. In particular, the discussion concerned the resumption of negotiations on trade preferences, as well as the immediate start of negotiations on obligations regarding prices for electric vehicles.
The conversation between the two top officials took place before the entry into force of duties imposed by US President Donald Trump. According to Wang Wentao, China is ready to deepen trade, investment and industrial cooperation with the European Union.
The parties also discussed the creation of a more favorable business environment for enterprises.
