South Korean president's impeachment failed due to lack of quorum

The vote on the impeachment of President Yun Seok-yeon did not take place in the South Korean parliament due to an insufficient number of deputies. 200 votes were required to make a decision, but only 195 legislators were present.
The vote on the bill on impeachment of President Yun Seok-yeol was canceled at the plenary session of the National Assembly of South Korea on the 7th due to lack of quorum, reports UNN with reference to Ryonhap.

Only 195 of the 300 registered lawmakers took part in the vote on the bill to impeach President Yun, which was presented at the plenary session this afternoon.
However, the votes were not counted due to the lack of a quorum. Accordingly, the impeachment bill was automatically repealed.
The impeachment bill must be approved by 200, or two-thirds, of the 300 registered members.
Only 192 deputies from the all-opposition party, including the Democratic Party of Korea, and 195 deputies from the People's Power Party, including Ahn Chol Soo, Kim Sang Wook and Kim Ye Ji, took part in the vote.
Before the plenary session, the People's Power Party confirmed its "no" vote on the impeachment of President Yoon and the bill on special prosecution of First Lady Kim Gong Hee.
After the People's Power Party took part in a repeat vote on the "Law on the Special Prosecution of First Lady Kim Gong Hee," the group left before voting on the impeachment bill for President Yun, making sure that the impeachment bill would be rejected even before it was put to the vote.
The publication notes that this is the third time that a bill on impeachment of a sitting president has been put to a vote in the National Assembly.
Earlier, proposals to impeach former President Noh Moo-hyun in 2004 and former President Park Geun-hye in 2016 were adopted at the plenary session of the National Assembly.

This impeachment bill, introduced jointly by six opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, was the catalyst for President Yun's declaration of martial law on the 3rd.
The impeachment bill accuses him of "imposing martial law in violation of the Constitution and laws, although some requirements of martial law were not complied with" and "violating the principles of national sovereignty and separation of powers, freedom of activity of political parties." This was cited as the reason for the impeachment.
