Kyiv • UNN
New stations in five regions measure pollution levels automatically. The equipment was purchased within the framework of the joint project with Finland, UFAIR.

Six new indicative air quality monitoring stations have been installed in Ukraine, which are already operating in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as in the Ivano-Frankivsk agglomeration. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, writes UNN.
Details
It is noted that the equipment was purchased within the framework of the Ukrainian-Finnish institutional cooperation project UFAIR.
The stations operate in an automated mode and measure key air quality indicators, including nitrogen dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide, etc. The collected data allows for prompt assessment of the atmospheric air condition and timely response to potential risks to public health.
The development of a modern air monitoring system is the basis of an effective environmental policy that meets EU standards. Reliable data allows for informed decisions and better protection of people's health.
At the same time, tender documentation is being prepared for the purchase of two stationary air quality monitoring points. Their acquisition will be carried out by the Finnish Meteorological Institute within the framework of the UFAIR project. It is expected that this equipment will arrive in Ukraine by the end of 2026 and will provide even more accurate and representative data.
