German Chancellor Scholz refuses to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles to avoid a conflict with Russia. Opposition leader Merz is in favor of transferring the missiles to strike Russian military targets.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has once again refused to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, as he considers this decision to be a mistake, UNN reports with reference to n-tv.
"We are clearly opposed to all the 'hotheads' who think we should do whatever we want. We will not authorize the deployment of long-range weapons supplied from Germany to strike deep into Russia - that's it," Scholz said.
He added that a conflict between NATO and Russia must be avoided at all costs, and therefore believes that "the transfer of the Taurus would be a mistake.
