Russia reports a massive drone attack on 8 regions: explosions occurred near military airfields

On the night of August 14, Russia was attacked by drones. Explosions were reported near military airfields, in particular in Voronezh and Nizhny Novgorod regions, where Kinzhal missile carriers are based.

On the night of August 14, Russia was attacked by drones. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have shot down 4 missiles and 117 UAVs. Public media reports explosions near military airfields. In particular, in the Voronezh region, the Borisoglebsk airfield was on fire after the attack.  In the Nizhny Novgorod region, there were reports of "arrivals" at Savasleyka, where MiG-31K Kinzhal missile carriers are based.  This was reported by UNN.

Local publics report  "10 arrivals" at the Savasleyka military airbase in Nizhny Novgorod region. They claim that the road to Kulebaki, where it is located, has been blocked.  There is no confirmation of this information from other sources. The governor said that air defense was in operation. 

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the carriers of the Kinzhal missiles used by Russia to strike Ukraine are based at the Savasleyka air base - MiG-31K aircraft.

In the Voronezh region, residents reported overnight that the Borisoglebsk military airfield caught fire after a UAV attack. 

Governor Alexander Gusev said that the region was attacked by more than 35 drones. The air defense system was working, and there were no casualties in the region. According to Gusev,  several residential and non-residential properties, municipal infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged as a result of the falling UAV debris. 

The Orel region was also attacked by a UAV at night, according to local residents and public reports. A resident of the village of Anakhino filmed one of the moments of the UAV attack. 

Governor Andriy Klychkov claims that there were no damages or casualties due to the attack. 

Meanwhile, the governor of the Kursk region, Aleksey Smirnov, said that Russian air defense repelled the attack at night and allegedly shot down four missiles. 

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 117 UAVs and 4 missiles were allegedly shot down over Russian territory at night. 

Thirty-seven UAVs and four tactical missiles were destroyed over the territory of Kursk region, another thirty-seven UAVs were destroyed over Voronezh region, seventeen UAVs were destroyed over the territory of Belgorod region, eleven over Nizhny Novgorod region, nine over Volgograd region, three over Bryansk region, two over Orel region and one over Rostov region.
