The expert also recalls that despite the international scandal with the interference of the Ukrainian authorities in the US elections in 2016, Poroshenko continued to attend events of Hillary Clinton's campaign financiers, and in the midst of the US elections in general, on behalf of Ukraine, he went to support her personally.
"Pyotr Alekseyevich, on the eve of the decisive political battle between Hillary and Trump, instead of leaving the US affairs alone after the scandal, went overseas to meet with Hillary, to remind Americans about Manafort, Trump and the scandal. It is obvious that even then Trump refused to meet with the head of Ukraine. It is difficult to overestimate the damage caused by Poroshenko to Ukraine in the context of interference in the US elections," Oleshchuk writes.
In his opinion, today Poroshenko's attempts to meet at least one of the Republicans only remind them of the negative attitude of the Poroshenko-era authorities towards the United States.
"The best thing Pyotr Alekseyevich can do for Ukraine on his American tour right now is to take a walk near the Christmas tree, eat a cheeseburger and return to London for Christmas to visit his sons. Everything else was already good and didn't end there. will not end now – Poroshenko will harm Ukraine with his trip to the United States, reminding Republicans how he "leaked" their candidate Trump in the election before last," Oleshchuk sums up.
