OpenAI CEO breaks silence after 'Molotov cocktail' attack on his estate

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman broke his silence after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at his San Francisco estate in the US early Friday morning, UNN reports, citing the Daily Mail.

Details

Altman, 40, recounted the terrifying incident in his personal blog, adding a photo of his husband and child, which he shared to prevent future attacks.

"I hope images have power. We usually try to be quite private, but in this case, I'm sharing a photo in the hope that it might deter the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think of me," he wrote.

Altman wrote in his blog that the Molotov cocktail bounced off the house. The bomb set fire to the outer gate.

"Words also have power. A few days ago, there was a provocative article about me," Altman continued.

"Someone told me yesterday that they thought it came at a time of great anxiety about AI, and that it makes the situation even more dangerous for me. I brushed it off. Now I'm awake in the middle of the night, furious and thinking that I underestimated the power of words and narratives," he noted.

Altman did not specifically name the article he considered "provocative," but "the alleged attack came just days after The New Yorker published an explosive investigation," the publication writes.
