Details
Prosecutor Andreas Kruszewski said on Wednesday that police had examined evidence seized in connection with the arrest of Marius Borg Hoybi and conducted witness interviews.
The Oslo police noted that it was decided not to seek further detention of the Crown Princess ' son in custody. "At this time, we no longer see that there is a risk of falsification of evidence," the police said.
Hoybe's lawyer, Eyvind Bratlien, confirmed to the Norwegian news agency NTB that his client was released from custody.
At the same time, Oslo police said they had launched an investigation into "another case related to sexual crimes." However, the details of the new charges were not disclosed.
In Norway, the preliminary charge is brought before the official charge and allows the authorities to detain suspects during the investigation.
Add-ons
Marius Borg hobby, 27, is the stepson of the heir to the Norwegian throne, Crown Prince Gokon, and the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. He has no royal title or official duties.
A man was arrested last week in Oslo on preliminary charges of "having sexual intercourse with a person who was unconscious or unable to resist for other reasons," police said. Authorities did not specify when exactly the alleged rape occurred.
