NBU puts into circulation a coin commemorating those executed, tortured, or who died in captivity

The National Bank has put into circulation a commemorative circulation coin with a face value of 10 hryvnias, dedicated to those who died in Russian captivity. The reverse depicts a broken chain transforming into silhouettes of birds.
The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a new commemorative circulation coin to mark the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, members of volunteer formations, and civilians who were executed, tortured, or died in Russian captivity. This was reported by UNN with reference to the NBU.
Details
The denomination of the commemorative circulation coin "In Memory of Those Executed, Tortured, or Died in Captivity" is 10 hryvnias. Its obverse is identical to the obverse of the 10 hryvnia circulation coin of the 2018 design.
The reverse of the coin depicts a chain with a broken link, symbolizing liberation from shackles.
Parts of the chain rise upward and transform into silhouettes of birds — images of an unbreakable spirit, heroism, and a bright transition into eternity for those who gave their lives for Ukraine. The inscription "In Memory of Those Executed, Tortured, or Died in Captivity" is placed around the circumference.
The Head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyi, noted that this coin honors military personnel and civilians whose lives were cut short by Russian captivity, and also reminds of crimes against the Ukrainian people that have no statute of limitations, and of the systematic policy of terror that Russia is waging against Ukraine.
We are imprinting this memory in metal so that it lives not only in memorials or books, but also reminds everyone of the price of human dignity, freedom, and life. We cannot bring back the dead, but we can and must do everything so that the truth and memory of them remain with us forever

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, reminded of the mass murder of prisoners in Olenivka, Donetsk region, four years ago, on the night of July 28-29, 2022. At least 50 Ukrainian defenders died (49 people were identified), and more than 130 were wounded. These were mostly defenders of Mariupol who left the Azovstal plant. Among them were fighters of the Azov regiment, marines, and border guards.
