NASA astronaut and two Russians arrive at International Space Station

NASA astronaut Johnny Kim and two Russian crew members arrived at the International Space Station on Tuesday aboard a Russian spacecraft. AP writes about this, reports UNN.

Details

It is reported that the Soyuz launch vehicle was launched as scheduled from the Russian-leased Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to put the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft with three astronauts into orbit. They docked with the station a little over three hours after takeoff.

Kim and Russians Sergey Ryzhikov and Oleksiy Zubrytskyi will spend about eight months at the space outpost.

NASA said Kim will conduct scientific research and demonstrate technologies that will help prepare the crew for future space missions and benefit people on Earth. A native of Los Angeles, Kim is a U.S. Navy lieutenant commander, naval aviator, and military field surgeon.

Kim, Ryzhikov, and Zubrytskyi are joining NASA astronauts Don Pettit, Anne McClain, and Nicole Ayers, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Takuya Onishi, and Russian cosmonauts Oleksiy Ovchinin, Ivan Wagner, and Kirill Peskov at the space outpost.

Addition

Earlier, the NASA SpaceX Crew-9 crew successfully returned to Earth on the SpaceX capsule. Two astronauts completed the mission after nine months at the ISS.

Meanwhile, NASA has confirmed its intention to complete the certification of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft for manned missions by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
