Most Poles supported stripping Zelenskyy of the order, but support cooperation with Ukraine – poll

A CBOS poll showed that 59% of Poles support President Nawrocki's decision to strip Zelenskyy of the order. At the same time, 75% of respondents believe that Poland and Ukraine should cooperate in the face of the Russian threat.
59% of Poles consider the decision of Polish President Karol Nawrocki to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle to be correct. At the same time, 75% of respondents are convinced that Poland and Ukraine should primarily cooperate in the face of the Russian threat. This is evidenced by the results of a CBOS survey, reports RMF24, writes UNN.

According to the study, 28% of respondents negatively assessed the decision regarding the state award. At the same time, opinions on its consequences for Poland were evenly split: 41% each believe that this step brought the country more benefit or more harm.
The survey also showed that 84% of respondents believe that the Polish state should react if other countries honor historical figures responsible for crimes against Poles. At the same time, 44% agree that Ukrainians have the right to their own historical heroes, even if their role is negatively assessed in Polish history, while 42% disagree with this.
The majority of Poles support cooperation with Ukraine
Also, 80% of respondents are convinced that Russia benefits from Polish-Ukrainian disputes, and 73% believe that politicians from both countries use these conflicts for their own political interests.

Despite this, 75% of respondents believe that Poland and Ukraine should primarily cooperate in the face of the Russian threat, rather than focus on historical disputes. Another 52% of respondents are convinced that the two countries have more common than opposing interests.
Poles named the most important priorities in relations with Ukraine as cooperation in the security sphere (61%), development of good neighborly relations (46%), proper commemoration of the victims of the Volyn tragedy (43%), strengthening Poland's position as a regional leader (41%), and participation of Polish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine (40%).
The survey was conducted from July 2 to 12, 2026, among 938 adult residents of Poland.
