More than a thousand veterans received a voucher for retraining at the Vocational Training Center: what professions did former servicemen choose

1,266 Ukrainian veterans are being trained at vocational education centers of the State Employment Service. The most popular professions are administrator and driver, with training programs in drone use and psychological assistance also being chosen.

Since the beginning of the year, 1266 Ukrainian veterans have been studying at vocational education centers of the State Employment Service. This was reported to UNN by the State Employment Service.

Since last fall, a pilot project has been implemented to organize vocational training for combatants and persons with war-related disabilities at vocational education institutions of the State Employment Service. That is, veterans - combatants and persons with disabilities as a result of war have the opportunity to undergo free training, retraining or advanced training in educational institutions of the Employment Service, regardless of their level of education

The institution reported that free housing is provided for both the student and the accompanying person if the student has a disability. Transportation costs are also reimbursed.

"Between January and June 2024, 1266 veterans were trained under this program, 120 of them women," the employment service said.

Most often, veterans were trained in the following professions:

  • administrator;
  • driver of motor vehicles (category C).

As well as the following educational programs: "Peculiarities of Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Martial Law," "Civil Protection in Modern Conditions," "Psychological Assistance in Martial Law," "Social and Psychological Aspects of Working with Combatants and Persons with Disabilities as a Result of War.

Professions and regions

According to the Employment Service, since the beginning of  2024, 12.6 thousand Ukrainians have received a voucher for education. 9.6 thousand of them were received by people over the age of 45, 1.9 thousand vouchers were received by internally displaced persons, 684 vouchers were received by people with disabilities, and 348 vouchers were received by combatants.

Most vouchers were issued by specialties/professions:

  • Nursing;
  • preschool education;
  • Psychology;
  • Medicine;
  • cook;
  • driver;
  • tractor driver;
  • pastry chef;
  • electric and gas welder;
  • electrician.

The leaders in the number of education vouchers issued were Dnipropetrovs'k (1.4 thousand), Lviv (1.1 thousand), Poltava (778), Kharkiv (778), Khmelnytsky (733) and Odesa (723) regions.

Optional

The State Employment Service operates eight vocational education centers. These are unique educational institutions that provide training for adults in 96 licensed working professions and about 400 educational programs.

For the unemployed, such training is free of charge and is provided at the expense of the Compulsory State Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine for Unemployment. Upon successful completion of the training, students receive a state-issued certificate of qualification.

Recall

Since the beginning of the year, 5,000 employers have applied to employment centers for training of the unemployed. The employment rate after vocational training is 85%, and the main result is employment in a new profession.
