France plans to recognize the Palestinian state in June at a conference with Saudi Arabia. Macron hopes that SA will recognize Israel in response to this move.

France plans to recognize the Palestinian state in June at a conference that official Paris is holding together with Saudi Arabia. In return, French leader Emmanuel Macron hopes that Saudi Arabia will recognize Israel. This was stated by the President of France, UNN reports with reference to Politico.
France plans to recognize the Palestinian state and may do so as early as June
Macron also expressed hope that, by recognizing Palestinian statehood at the June conference, which France is holding together with Saudi Arabia, participants who do not officially recognize Israel will, in turn, do so, the publication said.
The publication noted that Macron's comments came after Israel resumed bombing the Gaza Strip last month, when a two-month ceasefire ended and talks on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants broke down. Since then, Israel has suspended the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.
I want to believe in peace, today the conflict has escalated, and it's terrible. Nothing has entered (the Gaza Strip) since March 2 - no water, no food, no medicine, and none of the wounded are leaving
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict resonates deeply in France, home to Europe's largest Jewish and Muslim communities. Israel is also home to a large French-speaking community that has maintained close ties with France.
We must move towards recognition, and we will do so in the coming months. I am not doing this for unity or to please one person or another. I'm doing it because someday it will be fair
France has always advocated for a two-state solution, but has resisted calls to recognize a Palestinian state, arguing that Paris would only do so if it served the peace process.
Macron's decision is likely to provoke a strong reaction from Israel.
Unilateral recognition of a fictitious Palestinian state by any country, in the reality we all know, would be a reward for terror and an incentive for Hamas. Such actions will not bring peace, security and stability to our region, but on the contrary: they will only push them further away
According to the publication, the French-Jewish group Crif, which represents the interests of French Jews, criticized Macron's decision to recognize the Palestinian state, calling it an "unacceptable political victory" for Hamas, while dozens of Israeli hostages are still being held in Gaza.
