Latvia closes border with Belarus "for technical reasons"

Latvian Minister of the Interior Jānis Dombrava announced the closure of the border with Belarus. A failure of information systems occurred at the Paternieki border checkpoint, making border control impossible.

Public relations specialist of the State Border Guard of Latvia Kristīne Pētersone confirmed to the LETA agency that at the Belarusian-Latvian border at the Pāternieki border checkpoint, technical problems have arisen related to failures in the operation of information systems, due to which border control is currently impossible.
She also noted that the causes of the problem and the timeline for its resolution are not yet known, but the State Border Guard will promptly update information on opportunities for persons crossing the border.
