Mohsen Rezaei, senior military adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, accused U.S. President Donald Trump of making "fatal mistakes" in the conflict with Iran, UNN reports citing CNN.

"The mistaken U.S. president, having made a series of fatal mistakes, has moved from the role of a 'madman' to the role of a 'desperate man,'" Rezaei said.

Rezaei said that the "attack on pilgrims" in Shalamcheh, an Iranian city located on the border with Iraq, and threats to strike infrastructure are "nothing but signs of despair and helplessness."

"Iran's response to attacks on its infrastructure will be harsh and escalatory," he added.
