The Air Force says that Ukraine does not have enough Patriot systems to protect large areas from ballistic missiles. Patriot SAMs are effective against aerodynamic targets up to 150 km, but against ballistics - only for a few dozen.
Ukraine is currently unable to protect large areas from ballistic missile attacks. This was announced on Facebook by Yuriy Ignat, Head of Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,UNN reports.

According to him, Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems are capable of operating against aerodynamic targets (aircraft, cruise missiles) within a radius of up to 150 km, and against ballistic missiles - but only within a radius of several tens of kilometers.

He stressed that in the course of the war, the enemy is modernizing air attack weapons - in particular, UAVs, cruise and ballistic missiles, which, in turn, complicates the work of Ukrainian air defense, including Western systems.
"The key word is complicates, not makes impossible. ... 24/7 servicemen of the Air Force are on duty and doing everything possible to shoot down as many Russian missiles and drones as possible," Ignat assured.
