Iran has vowed to take revenge for the deadly attack on its consulate in Damascus, which is linked to Israel.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has condemned the airstrike, which Israel is accused of, on his country's consulate in Damascus. UNN reports with reference to AFP.

After repeated defeats and setbacks against the faith and will of the Resistance Front fighters, the Zionist regime has put blind murder on the agenda in the struggle for its own salvation. This cowardly crime will not go unanswered

The air strike on Damascus is also scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the UN Security Council. Representatives of the Iranian mission note that the country reserves the right to take measures in response to such actions. The Iranian mission also said that the strike could "potentially spark an even larger conflict involving other countries" and called on the Security Council to "condemn this unjustified criminal act.

As it is known, seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which manages Iran's military operations abroad, were killed in a air strike on a five-story extension to the Iranian embassy.

Among the dead were Brigadier Generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, both senior commanders of the Quds Force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps unit responsible for foreign operations.

Zahedi, 63, has held a number of command positions in the force during a career spanning more than four decades.

Israel refused to comment on the strike.
