Iranian human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, who is currently imprisoned, has been transferred to a hospital in Tehran. The execution of her prison sentence has been temporarily suspended under a high bail. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the foundation managed by Mohammadi's family, according to UNN.

The 54-year-old Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 for her fight for women's rights and her campaign against the death penalty in Iran. Two weeks ago, she suffered a heart attack.
The activist's family had previously demanded her transfer from the prison in the city of Zanjan to Tehran to receive higher quality medical care.
The foundation stated the need for ongoing treatment
According to the Narges Mohammadi Foundation, she is currently being treated at Tehran Pars Hospital, where she is being monitored by her own medical team.
In February, the foundation reported that Mohammadi had been sentenced to a new prison term of 7.5 years. At that time, the Nobel Committee called on the Iranian authorities to release her immediately.
Suspension of the sentence is not enough. Narges Mohammadi requires constant specialized care. We must ensure that she never returns to prison
The human rights activist was detained in December after she publicly criticized the death of lawyer Khosrow Alikordi. Iranian prosecutors claimed that she made "provocative statements" during a memorial ceremony.
