In Ukraine, amid the heatwave, 220 natural fires occurred in a day, including due to human negligence and Russian shelling, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Monday, writes UNN.
220 fires in ecosystems, covering a total area of nearly 118 hectares, occurred in Ukraine over the past day according to operational data
According to the State Emergency Service, "due to human negligence and Russian shelling, dry vegetation and wheat crops were mostly burning." Over a thousand rescuers and about 240 units of SES equipment worked continuously to protect people's property from fires.
As emphasized by the SES, "in hot and windy weather, even a small spark can lead to crop loss and significant damage." And they urged:
- not to burn dry vegetation;
- not to throw cigarette butts and matches on roadsides and fields;
- not to use open fire near crops;
- to monitor the serviceability of agricultural machinery.
"Remember: burning dry vegetation entails administrative liability - fines for citizens range from 3,060 to 6,120 hryvnias, for officials - up to 30,600 hryvnias. In areas of the nature reserve fund, the fine can reach 12,240 hryvnias," the SES noted.
