It is noted that all the emails were identical and contained threats of violent death with the use of explosives. The first call about the threatening email was received at 7:10 am from a synagogue in Hampstead, followed by other reports.
Montreal police deployed their units to some of the synagogues. Law enforcement officers also checked them for suspicious packages and people. They found nothing. Soon after, police in Toronto, York Region, Hamilton, Ottawa, and Calgary released statements confirming that synagogues and other Jewish organizations had received the email and that officers had been dispatched to each. They all stated that no explosives were found.
