Police have identified two Russian servicemen involved in the murder of an SBU colonel and the torture of a civilian in Kyiv region. The suspects from the 76th Air Assault Division face life imprisonment.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated over violations of the laws and customs of war and encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, Ukrainian law enforcement officers identified and served suspicion notices to the Russian Armed Forces.

According to the police report, investigators have now identified two Russian military personnel who killed the assistant rector of the SBU academy and tortured a civilian.

The police found the body of the security officer in one of the burial places of Bucha civilians, which was located in a forest near the village of Vorzel.

After a series of investigative and operational measures and examinations, the police identified the persons involved: the evidence pointed to the presence of the 175th separate reconnaissance battalion of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division based in Pskov.

Investigative actions

It is noted that law enforcement officers conducted investigative experiments and identification with the victim, who was tortured by the occupiers and witnessed the murder of the SBU colonel.

The units of the canine and explosive service of the Kyiv police, as well as public formations of the Bucha City Council and Bucha district of Kyiv region were involved.

Currently, investigators of the SBU Investigation Department in Kyiv and Kyiv region, under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, have served the defendants with war crimes notices in absentia. The Russian occupiers face life imprisonment for their crimes.
