Human rights activist: Delay in sale of Medvedchuk's yacht is sufficient reason to elect new head of ARMA
Kyiv • UNN
Eduard Bagirov believes that the delay in the sale of Medvedchuk's yacht is a reason to change the head of the ARMA. The human rights activist suggests the possibility of agreements to delay the sale of the asset worth tens of millions of dollars.
The delay in the sale of the yacht of former traitor MP Viktor Medvedchuk by the head of the Agency for the Development and Management of Assets, Olena Duma, is sufficient grounds to hold a tender and get a new head of the agency. This opinion was expressed by human rights activist Eduard Bagirov in an exclusive commentary to UNN.
I believe that this shameful situation is enough to hold another competition for the position of the Head of ARMA. And I hope that the new person who will lead the ARMA will not only have the proper professional level, but will also be a person of honor and integrity and will do his or her job in the interests of the state of Ukraine
According to him, law enforcement officers should check why ARMA failed to sell the Royal Romance yacht.
Every citizen of Ukraine has their own personal opinion on this matter. They have their own conclusions. And I am sure that 90% of our citizens will definitely come to the conclusion that there were some agreements to delay the sale of an asset worth tens of millions of dollars... Ukrainian citizens are no longer surprised that ARMA or other bodies do not fulfill their duties promptly, do not allow some agreements to be practically implemented
Context
The ARMA has recently been in the spotlight for losing the Royal Romance yacht, which belonged to former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, a suspect in high treason. Despite the yacht's arrest by a Croatian court and its transfer to Ukraine for sale, ARMA has not been able to sell the asset in two years.
After researching the topic, we found out that the main delay with the sale of the yacht of the traitorous ex-MP arose because the head of the ARMA, Olena Duma, had been preparing amendments to the legislation on the sale of foreign assets for almost six months. At the same time, at the time of her appointment to the ARMA, the Prosecutor General's Office, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had already prepared a draft of the changes, but Duma categorically rejected it.
In this regard, the ARMA only launched a tender on March 20, 2024, to select a seller to sell the yacht, and a month later it finally selected the winner. It is worth noting that the selection of the winner took place a month before the expiration of the maximum period of seizure of this asset, which made its sale virtually impossible.
Political analyst Viktor Bobirenko believesthat the delay in the sale of Medvedchuk's yacht by ARMA head Olena Duma cannot be ordinary negligence, but could be motivated by financial reward. And former MP Ihor Mosiychuk is surethat Olena Duma acted in the interests of pro-Russian politician Medvedchuk by delaying the sale of his yacht.
