As stated on the company's official website, Knauf is a manufacturer of building materials specializing in the production of gypsum plasterboards, metal profiles, gypsum partitions and other materials for interior decoration.

The company's active operations in the Ukrainian market began in August 1996 with the establishment of a subsidiary, Knauf Marketing, and a joint venture, Stroymak, in 1997 on the basis of the Kyiv Building Materials Plant.

In addition, in 2008, the Knauf Gypsum Donbass gypsum tongue-and-groove slabs plant was opened in Soledar, which is now occupied.
