After her death at the age of 36, Monroe was buried in the cemetery in 1962. In 1992, Hefner purchased a crypt next to her resting place. He died in September 2017 at the age of 91. However, the place that was sold at the auction is not located exactly next to the celebrities: the single-space mausoleum is located one row up and four seats to the left of Monroe's resting place.
