Ukrainian government approves draft law on rebooting the Bureau of Economic Security

The government approved a bill to restart the work of the Bureau of Economic Security at a meeting on December 29 and is submitting it to the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, according to UNN.

- Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

"We propose that only the BES and the NABU should be able to raise the issue of conducting inspections of financial and economic activities of businesses, regardless of their form of ownership. We also propose to exclude the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine from the list of state financial control bodies," the Prime Minister said.

The government is also proposing a new procedure for electing the BES director. International partners will be involved in the process. These changes, according to Denys Shmyhal, are aimed at strengthening the rule of law and improving the investment climate in our country.

The Verkhovna Rada has already registered draft laws on priority measures to reform the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine No.10088and No.10088-1. Both have passed the committee and have been awaiting consideration since October.
